Copal was sacred to the Mayans and believed to be a gift from the Gods. The most precious copal resin came from trees that were hit by lightening. To the Mayans, copal was so sacred that it could only be handled with special instruments by the priest. The incense was not so much a pathway for prayer, but a prayer in itself. They burned it at sunrise to honour the power of the sun, a traditional symbol of creative energy.

When burned, Copal has a strong effect on the emotions, clears a heavy atmosphere and has a fragrance that is warm and soft, ideal for nurturing creative projects that are in their infancy. Also use copal for flashes of insight and awareness.

Light one side of a Sandalwood Briquette, rest on sand in a bowl and sprinkle Copal Loose Incense over the top. Enjoy for approx 1 hour.
